Our good friends at Lightspeed Research recently surveyed mobile commerce users in the United Kingdom. When compared to the US Mobile Commerce users, they don’t quite stack up. According to Invesp, 62% of US consumers have used their mobile device to purchase goods in just the past six months. While the survey below highlights that only 1 in 3 or roughly 33% of UK consumers are using mobile commerce overall.
Besides the raw data, there are some noticeable trends seen in both populations. The first and most important being that mobile coupons have grown exponentially in the past year – 350% to be exact. This isn’t just exciting news for mobile deal applications, it is also great news for local merchants and consumers on the go. Another interesting trend is that mCommerce is quickly earning a reputation for being “quick & easy”. This is very different from older perceptions of mCommerce being unsafe or unnecessary.
Overall, it looks like our friends across the pond are quickly jumping on the mCommerce band wagon. And personally, we at Connected Commerce are excited to see mCommerce develop at the global level.
